Information you enter in the calculators

The calculators run entirely in your web browser and do not submit your form entries to our servers or save them in an account. When you open a full breakdown from the homepage, the scenario travels in the part of the page address after the # symbol. That part is not included in the page request to our server, but your browser may retain the address in its history. Anyone you share a scenario link with can see the numbers in it. Older links that put numbers after a ? symbol may include those numbers in hosting logs.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the service that hosts this site may keep standard server logs. These can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, the page that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. These logs are used to keep the site secure and running properly.

Cookies and advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads, which help keep this site free. We don't set cookies of our own, but our advertising partners do:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

Analytics

We use Simple Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies or similar technology, doesn't store your IP address and doesn't build a profile of you.

For each page view, it records the page address without anything after a ? or # symbol, so the numbers in a scenario link aren't included. Campaign tags such as utm_source are kept. It also records the website that referred you, your browser type, language and screen size, your country (estimated from your device's time zone), and how long you stayed on the page and how far you scrolled. Visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland

Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before cookies are used for personalized ads, through a consent message shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time from that message's settings.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including several US states, you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to ask for it to be deleted or corrected, and to opt out of its use for targeted advertising. Because we don't collect personal information directly, most of this information is held by our advertising partners, and the opt-out tools above are the quickest way to act on it. To make a request to us, contact us at the address below and we'll respond as the law requires.

Children's privacy

This site is meant for adults and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Links to other websites

Pages on this site link to other websites, such as government resources. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for how they handle information.

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
